Esther is a skilled artist and creative illustrator. She came to my studio to update her headshots for her website and social media. Like every woman I photograph, she expressed how I might be challenged with her session because of how she felt that day. Just not great, with stress of life and not taking the best care of herself, she felt the wear on her body and was pensive about how she would look in her photographs. I reassured her that's my job she is beautiful in her portraits. We ended up having so much fun as, normally very pragmatic with her wardrobe, she got brave and took my challenge to glam up her session with a couple of gowns from my studio closet. By the end of her session, she had long forgotten about her pensiveness and was starting to believe what I was telling her; that she was doing a great job following my lead, she felt as beautiful and self-confident as she looked, and her portraits are so perfectly HER.
As she viewed her images, she sighed relief and shared she was more pensive than she expressed on session day, admitting she avoids the mirror (maybe it's vanity), or has many photographs of herself. She said that now she knows what she truly looks like! Who can relate? Now, her, her family, her children, are blessed with these amazing images they will cherish forever of the beautiful woman they love and will always remember from this time of her life.
